Thoughts on art, life, culture, politics, and the places those things intersect.

Russian intrigue, the future of publishing, Teespring’s rough month, meow, and werewolf tracks.

1. Understanding Russia
Russian journalist Alexey Kovalyov discussed protests in Russia over Alexei Navalny, hacking, hits on soldiers, and more with a podcast I follow. You can read a Q&A session he did on Reddit a couple of years ago.
The most interesting point to me is that Navalny is apparently more right-wing in his views than we in the west tend to associate with mass protests. Kovalyov described Putin as being to Navalny’s left. I had no idea.
“He is only being persecuted for his anti-corruption investigations.”

2. I'm a bit of a publishing nerd
I spend an above average time thinking about how words get funded and seen. Stratechery is good for pulling out the details about news about news, about publishing, and the business of tech in general.
